The Mainfreight Volunteer Program offers a wide range of placements and work experience opportunities across all areas of the event. As Australia's largest annual multi sport event the Games requires a workforce of 250 - 300 volunteers. Volunteer roles vary in duration, required level of commitment, and the two categories of volunteers within the program are referred to as key volunteers and Games time volunteers.

Key Volunteers
Key volunteers play a critical role in the planning and delivery of the games working directly with permanent event staff to ensure the success of the Games. Key volunteer roles require an ongoing commitment in the lead up to and during the delivery of the Games and these roles are excellent for internships or practicum placements for students. They are also fantastic for developing genuine work readiness skills and experience.

Games Time Volunteers
Games time volunteers focus directly on the delivery on the event at Games time. These placements have many of the same benefits as key volunteer roles but are much shorter in duration and intensity. Games time volunteer roles vary considerably and cater for all abilities and skill bases.

Please follow these simple steps to apply for a volunteer role with the 2012 Australian University Games.

1) Check your calendar
The event week is the 23 - 28 September. Key Volunteer roles will require committment prior to and after the Games week.

2) Know the role you wish to apply for
Review the position descriptions above and select the position that most suits you. You can choose a number of roles and AUG staff will work with you to find the best position.

3) Complete the online application
All applicants for both Key and Games time volunteer roles will need to complete the online application. Click the button below to apply online now.

4) Submit your CV and cover letter (Key volunteer applicants only) 
Key volunteer applicants are to email a CV and a cover letter to aug.admincoordinator@unisport.com.au. The cover letter should specifically reference the position description of the role you are applying for.
