The closing ceremony for the 2009 Australian University Games was held at Circle on Cavill on Friday 2 October, the final day of the Games. OPENING CEREMONY | |

The 2009 Australian University Games started with a bang at a spectacular opening ceremony at Sea World. Over 4,500 students watched some fantastic entertainment and enjoyed the rides in the park, which was exclusively open for the Games. 44 universities took part in the athletes march, cheered on by their teammates before the Queensland Minister for Sport, Hon. Phil Reeves MP officially opened the Games. |

| GAMES LAUNCH | |
| The 2009 Australian University Games launch was held at Sea World on Thursday 13 August. About one hundred invited guests joined Games ambassadors Nikki Hudson and Shane Heal to launch the Games over a bbq breakfast. |

| The Games were officially launched by the Queensland Minister for Sport, Hon. Phil Reeves MP. Both the Minister and the Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke were excited about the Games returning to the Gold Coast and were looking forward to welcoming over 7,000 students at the end of September. |
