Background information
World University Championship (WUC) events are held every two years in an alternate sequence to the Universiade's under the banner of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The are currently 29 WUC sports in the FISU calendar which are staged in various cities throughout the world.
Australian University Sport selects teams to represent Australia in World University Championship events in consultation with the relevant National Sporting Organisations (NSOs). The Australian team will compete in a number of championships but not necessarily all of them. To find out more about the championships on offer, visit the sport page of the AUS website.
Eligibility
To be eligible to compete at the World University Championships, competitors must;
- Be Australian citizens aged at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as at 1st January in the year of the event.
- Be proceeding towards a diploma or higher at either an Australian or overseas university, TAFE or recognised tertiary institution or have graduated from one of the above institutions in the year prior to the competition (i.e. if the event is on 1 July 2012, then the student must have graduated after 1 July 2011).
All competitors must confirm their eligibility via the completion of the Academic Eligibilty Certificate.
Selections
Australian University Sport engages the relevant NSO to conduct selections for all international teams. Individuals interested in nominating for an Australian World University Championship team should refer to the the relevant link on the sport page of the AUS website.
