Every year many outstanding performances and contributions are recorded by student athletes participating in university sport in Australia. To this end Australian University Sport recognises these performances under a national university sport award scheme called the 'Australian University Sport Awards'.
The awards have been conducted since 2001 and are for the recognition and reward of student athletes for their outstanding performance and contribution to university sport. In 2006 two further awards were introduced to represent the efforts of a broader cross-section of the university sport community and recognise the contribution from coaches, officials, volunteers, administrators and referees within university sport in Australia.
Previous AUS award winners include Grant Hackett, Brenton Rickard, Lisbeth Lenton, Sean Wroe and Dani Samuels.
