LAUNCH


The official launch of the 2010 Eastern University Games took place in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday 25 May. A large crowd of dignitaries, AUS partners, university representatives, media and the stars of the show, the students, gathered to formally welcome the games to the Coffs Harbour region. The job of officially launching the games was left in the capable hands of Coffs Harbour Mayor Cr. Keith Rhodes who said that he was excited to have the games return to Coffs Harbour and declared the games officially launched.

 

 

OPENING CEREMONY


The 2010 Eastern University Games opening ceremony will be held on Sunday 4 July and offers participants the chance to celebrate the start of the Games and meet new friends from all the competing universities and TAFEs from across NSW and the ACT. The evening will comprise of live music, food and a good dose of university pride. Bring your mascots and kick off the 2010 Eastern University Games with a bang.

 

 

The entertainment for the opening ceremony will consist of a Red Bull DJ playing between 7:00pm-8:00pm before the 2009 National Campus Band Competition winners The Downstairs Mix Up Band will take to the stage to kick off the 2010 Eastern University Games in style. The same competition has had past winners such as Jebediah and Eskimo Joe so this is your chance to catch one of the best young up and coming bands in the country perform.

 

 

Date: Sunday 4 July

Time: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Location: SCU Coffs Harbour Courtyard

Who: All Games participants and invited Games supporters

Dress: Beach Party or team colours

Details: Food outlets, live music, new friends and good times

Transport:  Busways will be operating a shuttle bus service from the university to the social program venues from 8:30pm-10:00pm. Please note that this service does have a $3.00 per person charge. Buses are restricted to 60 passangers per bus.
 

MEDAL CEREMONIES

 

The 2010 Eastern University Games medal ceremonies will be held on the last day of the Games and will provide recognition to those teams who placed first, second and third within their competition and division.

Date: Wednesday 7 July

Time: Following the final gold medal match of each sport

Location: At the individual sporting venues

Dress: Team uniform
 

CLOSING CEREMONY

 

The 2010 Eastern University Games closing ceremony will take place following the final of the men's basketball competition at Sportz Central, the last final of Eastern University Games. At this ceremony the awards for the East Region Overall Champion University, Ann Mitchell Trophy (per capita) and the Ben Tjen/Shane Alvisio Trophy (Spirit of the Games) will be presented.

Date: Wednesday 7 July

Time: Following the men's basketball gold medal match (approx. 6:00 pm)

Location: Sportz Central- 74 Bray St. Coffs Harbour

Who: All Games participants and invited Games supporters
