RiskLogic are widely recognised as market leaders across Australia and New Zealand for their expertise in the critical incident and crisis management fields. They have successfully implemented critical incident management programs at Australian Catholic University, Monash University, The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, University of Technology Sydney, University of Tasmania, Swinburne University and Auckland University.
Due to a number of critical incidents which have occurred in during Australian University Sport's history, with some resulting in fatalities, Australian University Sport has partnered with RiskLogic to develop a critical incident management program as preferred supplier.
Putting these frameworks in place will help member universities protect their reputation, and more importantly their staff, students and participants should a critical incident occur. The program aims to develop a cultural mindset within university staffing to be able to respond effectively to a range of incidents which pose a risk to the health and safety of staff, students, participants and visitors at sporting events.
Australian University Sport CEO Don Knapp is pleased to partner with RiskLogic to conduct incident management workshops and develop a critical incident management program.
“This partnership reinforces the role a sound incident management program developed by a recognised industry leader plays in the safe delivery of our events program,” Mr Knapp said.
“Member universities, event participants, volunteers and event partners will all benefit through the subsequent cultural shift around health and safety at Australian University Sport events.”
“We look forward to collaborating with member universities in upcoming workshops to ensure the correct protocols are in place to enable all event participants to perform at their absolute best.”
The program will begin with the development of critical incident management procedures which will be distributed to university staff. Australian University Sport and RiskLogic will deliver workshops across Australia as part of university awareness training. This is to assist university staff to build awareness and capability in their teams around critical incident management to ensure effective incident response.
Through providing the right set of tools and workshops to teams and managers, we hope membe universities become compliant and imbed safety into their sporting culture and training programs. University staff will have the opportunity to explore the issues, challenges and solutions around critical incident management during the workshops being conducted throughout March 2017, as well as at the AUS National Conference on 17 May 2017.
