Background Information
The World University Winter Games (WUWG) are held every two years under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The WUWG 2005 comprises competition in ten (10) winter sports disciplines, with many more events.

In 2005, the WUWG will be held in Innsbruck, Austria from 12 - 21 January. The snow sports disciplines to be contested are: Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Biathlon, Short Track Speed Skating, Snowboarding, Figure Skating, and Ice Hockey.

Australian University Sport (AUS) selects teams to represent Australia in the World University Winter Games in consultation with the relevant National Sporting Organisations (NSO). The Australian Team will compete in the majority of the sports but not all of them.

Applications:
Applications for the 2005 World University Winter Games have closed.

To be eligible, competitors must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the AUS By Laws. These include:

• Australian citizens at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as at 1st January 2005
• Must be proceeding towards a Degree or higher at either an Australian or Overseas University/ TAFE OR
• Have graduated from one of the above institutions in the year prior to the competition (ie: if the Championship is on 12 January 2005, then the student must have graduated after 12 January 2004).

Athletes will be selected according to the published Selection Criteria which will be available on the AUS website as a part of the application forms.
