universities and their athletes to get to and compete in
the Games, staff and volunteers working hard to pull it
off, a dedicated Games Advisory Board, state and national
sporting organisations running competitions, and corporate,
university and government partners to help fund it”

Mr Schofield particularly thanked Griffith University, the
partner University for the Games, and the Queensland Events
Corporation, the Game’s major sponsor.

real threat to sport at a university level stemming from
the Federal Government’s VSU legislation.

athletes from the full spectrum of sports including Grant
Hackett who took out Queensland Sport Star of the Year.
The Australian University Games contested 26 sports over
a five day period during September 2005 involving over 6,700
