The Event

The water polo competition at the 2019 Summer Universiade will take place on the 2-14 July. Water polo has been part of the Summer Universiade program since the first games in Turin in 1959 with the exception of 1975 and 1989. During this time the UniRoos have collected 5 medals in water polo competition, including 2 golds in 2015 (women) and 2009 (men). In Napoli 2019 the Australian women's team have been drawn in Pool B against USA, Italy, China and Russia with the men's team in Pool B against Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Japan. 

Results

The water polo teams this year were a notable addition to the UniRoos squad, and they achieved great results. For the Women’s team, they edged out Japan to place 5th in the finals, and the Men’s team placing 8th after a loss to Croatia. We are excited to bring our teams back to the Summer Universiade in 2021!
