readFlinders University (FU) has narrowly beaten The University of South Australia (UniSA) by 3 points to take out the 2019 SA Challenge, with the University of Adelaide (UoA) finishing in third place.
Held across two consecutive Friday’s in April (5th and 12th), the event featured a multi-sport inter varsity tournament comprised of over 250 students from the three universities, seeing friendly and competitive rivalries between the students build.
The Week 1 Indoor Hub took place at UniSA’s Pridham Hall featuring 3×3 basketball, badminton, netball 5s and volleyball competitions, while ultimate frisbee was held at the UoA Playing Fields.
FU took out pennants for 3×3 basketball and netball 5’s, totalling a points tally of 12 for the first round, while UniSA won pennants for badminton, ultimate frisbee and volleyball bagging them 11 points in the process. Meanwhile, UoA didn’t pick up any pennants for the first round however finished on a respectable five points.
Week 2 saw the Outdoor Hub move to UoA’s playing fields where 5-a-side lacrosse, tennis and UniLoop athletics relay and competitions took place.
Flinders University finished in strong fashion, winning tennis overall and the UniLoop athletics relay, pushing them ahead of UniSA in a count back to take home the 2019 SA Challenge Cup, with a total of 20 points.
UniSA finished well taking the pennant for lacrosse on the final day, finishing with a total points tally of 17, while UoA wrapped up with 11 points after taking second place in the tennis after a win in the women’s competition.

Flinders University – 20 points: 3×3 basketball, netball 5’s, tennis, UniLoop athletics relay
University of South Australia – 17 points: badminton, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee and volleyball
University of Adelaide – 11 points: nil
