readAustralia’s leading student-athletes will head to the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games in Rhine Ruhr, Germany with the support of an experienced and highly qualified medical team. The team includes highly experienced physicians, physiotherapists and myotherapist with backgrounds featuring Olympic campaigns, supporting professional teams, international competitions and national sporting teams, and multiple international university events. This diverse and accomplished group will ensure the UniRoos receive outstanding care and guidance throughout their campaign.
Additionally, the medical team will be supported by Elastoplast who have equipped our medical team with a wide range of essential supplies, helping us deliver the highest standard of care on the ground. Elastoplast’s contributions have made a meaningful difference to our preparation and performance.
UniRoos Medical Team:
Dr Jack Hodges – Senior Medical Officer
Currently an Emergency Doctor in charge at Narrabri District Health Service, Dr Hodges holds a Bachelor of Medicine (University of New England) and a Bachelor of Business (University of Technology Sydney). He previously served with the UniRoos at the 2019 Summer Games.
Dr Kathy Yu – Senior Medical Officer
Dr Yu is a longstanding contributor to the UniRoos program, having supported both Summer and Winter World University Games since 2017. She holds several qualifications in the field of medicine including Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (The University of Melbourne) Master of Public Health (Monash University) and Graduate Diploma Sports Medicine University of New South Wales) and brings a wealth of experience from roles with Cirque du Soleil, Gymnastics Australia, Australian Sailing, and the Tokyo Olympics.
Dr Amanda Mills – Team Doctor
A GP originally trained in New Zealand (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery University of Otago), Dr Mills specialises in sports and musculoskeletal medicine and has worked with the St Kilda AFLW team, Melbourne Storm pathways, and NRL game day coverage. She was part of the UniRoos medical team at the 2023 Summer Games.
Dr Daniel Friedman – Team Doctor
Dr Friedman is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Registrar at Olympic Park with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Hons (Monash University). He has supported elite athletes through the AIS, including residential programs and the Australian Diving Team.
Jackie White – Senior Physiotherapist
Jackie White (Master of Applied Science Manipulative Physiotherapy, The University of Sydney) brings extensive experience to the role, having attended five Summer World University Games between 2003 and 2011. She is Principal of Allsports & Spinal Physiotherapy and has also worked with Australian Sailing, Olympic campaigns and rugby.
Caroline Cleary – Physiotherapist
Caroline is an APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist (La Trobe University), PhD candidate (Edith Cowan University) and a lecturer at Torrens University. She has supported the UniRoos in 2019 and worked at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Her clinical expertise spans high-performance teams in netball, basketball and hockey.
Rob Brownlow – Physiotherapist
Rob holds a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (La Trobe University) and is Director and Head of Clinical Development at Gippsland Physiotherapy Group. He combines strong clinical skills with a personal passion for wildlife and sport.
Jarred Megaw – Physiotherapist
Jarred supported the UniRoos at the 2024 World University Championships in Rugby 7s and brings experience in both AFL and rugby. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Australian Catholic University.
Zac Sheridan – Physiotherapist
Also involved in the 2024 Rugby 7s campaign, Zac is Head Physiotherapist at Redcliffe Tigers AFC. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from ACU and has a strong interest in endurance events.
Georgia Tuckett – Myotherapist
Georgia holds an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy (RMIT University) and a Diploma in Remedial Massage. She works at Physio + Fitness Clinic and has provided support to Triathlon Australia, the Pararoos, and AFLW athletes.
With a balance of experience, technical skill, and passion for athlete care, the UniRoos 2025 medical team is well-equipped to provide high-performance medical support as Australia’s student-athletes compete on the world stage in Germany.
