There will be two disciplines of gymnastics at the 2027 Chungcheong World University Games: artistic gymnastics will be held between 1-5 August and rhythmic gymnastics between 10-12 August.
Artistic gymnastics was added to the programme of the Summer Universiade in 1961 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Due to increasing prominence, the first individual rhythmic gymnastics world championship was held in 1963 in Budapest, just two decades before it made its Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 1984.
