The University of Newcastle

The University of Newcastle, established in 1965 and based in Callaghan, NSW, evolved from the Newcastle University College of the University of New South Wales. It serves around 37,000 students across multiple campuses and research sites.

Newcastle excels in engineering, health and biomedical sciences, and marine ecology. Its Hunter Medical Research Institute and the Centre for Infrastructure Performance and Reliability lead pioneering studies in public health and resilient engineering.

Newcastle Sport & Rec’s University Pool and Sports Centre features a 50m heated pool, indoor courts, fitness studios and skate park. Outdoor ovals, athletics tracks and the Newcastle Olympic Park precinct support clubs in rugby, soccer and athletics, plus social leagues.
