After a tough opening-day defeat to Melbourne, the Curtin Carnabys women returned to the court determined to respond, and their home crowd was ready to lift them.

The lead changed hands 15 times, but Curtin spent 34:17 in front, won every quarter and built its advantage to 25 before securing an 82–63 victory over Federation University.

Ananya Tushir led CU with 21 points and five three-pointers, while Tiahna Sears delivered 14 points and 17 rebounds. The Carnabys dominated the boards 63–38 and shot an outstanding 64.9% from two-point range.
