Adelaide Waatu announced themselves as genuine 2026 title contenders with a remarkable 99–41 victory over defending champions UTAS in South Australia.

After leading 20–13 at quarter-time, AU blew the game open with a 29–7 second term. They spent 39:05 in front, produced a 17-point scoring run and pushed their advantage to as many as 60.

The Waatu connected on 20 three-pointers, with Caitlin Shillabeer and Zahlia Niemann scoring 19 points each. Niemann hit five of seven attempts from beyond the arc, while Sasha Hardin added 17 points.

This was more than a win—it was a warning to the rest of the competition.
