The defending champions prevailed 62–60 in a contest packed with pressure, turnovers and action at both ends of the court.

Leila Davis led Melbourne with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Elle Price added 16 points and nine rebounds. Abbey Hall recorded 16 points and nine rebounds for UWA Maali.
