The lead changed hands 11 times, but the University of Newcastle spent 34:23 in front on the way to a 68–59 road victory over Victoria University.

UON led 37–32 at half-time before VU reduced the margin by one in the third. Newcastle then closed out the contest with an 18–13 final term. The visitors dominated the rebounding battle 60–43, including 20 offensive rebounds.

Matthew Marsters led UON with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Angus Seymour recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. Marach Marach scored 17 points for VU, with Cooper Kirkman adding 15 points and 11 rebounds.
