University Basketball Talent hit the Court at Nationals 3x3 Basketball

The 2025 UniSport 3x3 Basketball Nationals concluded this week at Monash University’s Clayton Campus, bringing together 50 university teams from across Australia for a fast-paced three days of action.
Held in partnership with 3x3Hustle, the tournament showcased the growing strength and popularity of 3x3 Basketball at the university level. The three-day event featured back-to-back competition across four divisions, with teams displaying exceptional skill, teamwork, and comradery.
Monash University, the host institution, was widely praised for delivering a smooth and high-quality event experience, keeping the crowd engaged with fun activities like a spectator shootout competition, food kiosks offering free treats, and spirited performances from Monash Cheer & Dance.

Brett Lavale, Director of Sport at Monash University, and a newly appointed UniSport Australia Board Member, was in attendance for the finals and presented medals to winning teams.
“It was a privilege to host the UniSport 3x3 Basketball Nationals here at Monash,” Lavale said, “the energy across campus, the sportsmanship on court, and the sense of community from every team made this an unforgettable event.”

Monash University was also recognised with the Spirit Award for its outstanding contribution to the culture and atmosphere of the event.

As an exciting next step, the top two teams in both Division 1 men’s and women’s competitions have qualified for the FISU Oceania Qualifying Tournament in New Zealand. There, they will compete for a place at the FISU 3x3 Basketball University World Cup, offering an international pathway for Australian university athletes to experience international competition.
