Bond University winners of the 2022 Uni Women's Sevens Series.
The University of Newcastle (UON) and reigning champions Bond University (BOND) gave the crowd a spectacular finish in an epic gold match at the third and final tournament of the 2022 Uni Women’s 7s Series in Canberra (Ngunnawal).
A penalty try was awarded to UON in the dying seconds, sending the match into golden point extra-time at 17-17.
The clock resetting with five minutes to play and BOND taking the field with only 6 players, it was going to be a challenge for BOND to overcome the fast-finishing UON team. Ella Carlisle (#4 UON) found space on the wing to break through the BOND team with Dianne Waight (#4 BOND) despite her speed, unable to catch Carlisle.
In the bronze match The University of Melbourne (MELB) were unable to push through the strong USYD defence. USYD taking the win 22-10 and finishing 3rd for tournament three.
There were some varied results throughout the third tournament, creating a lot of movement on the Series Ladder. UON finished with their best results of the Series and not a game lost this tournament.

With multiple debutants taking the field, UWA Maali were also challenged with injuries reducing their player numbers. The team fought hard every game but were unable to overcome AU Roma’s in the plate match ending with AU Roma’s in front 17-0.
