Summer World University Games

The Competition

Taekwondo is one of the 15 compulsory sports at the Summer World University Games. The first World University Taekwondo Championship was held in 1986 at the University of California, in Berkeley, and was introduced to the Summer Universiades as an optional sport in Daegu, South Korea in 2003. Para taekwondo was announced as part of the program in January 2025 for the first time in a Summer Universiade.
