The 2025 UniSport Nationals Set To Kick Off On The Gold Coast

This year’s UniSport Nationals officially kicks off on the 27 September to 03 October 2025 in Queensland, as more than 6,500 student-athletes and support teams from 40 member universities gather on the Gold Coast to compete in the pinnacle event of university sport in Australia. UniSport Nationals unites students from our member universities nationwide, giving them the chance to go head-to-head in top-level national sporting competitions.

The country’s top student-athletes will contest for national titles in 30+ sports, as competitive rivalries and university pride will be on full display whilst showcasing the next generation of Australian sporting talent. Universities are set to clash for the title of Overall Nationals Champion, with The University of Sydney (USYD) chasing a sixth straight win as fierce challengers this year set their sights on dethroning them.

Proudly supported by strategic partners Tourism Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast, the Gold Coast, renowned for its world-class sporting facilities, stunning beaches and vibrant atmosphere, is the perfect host city for the 2025 UniSport Nationals, offering an unparallelled experience for athletes and spectators alike.

Nationals is more than just a multi-sport event, it is an opportunity for students to compete, connect and enjoy time with fellow students from across the country. This year, Nationals introduces two new features; the Guzman y Gomez (GYG) Match of the Day, where some of our most exciting games from the most popular sports will be broadcast live and free on UniSportTV, and UniFest, a festival-like experience designed to celebrate student life, connection and the energetic culture that surrounds university sport, proudly supported by Red Bull.

The 2025 UniSport Nationals begins Saturday 27 September, with the Welcome Ceremony taking place Sunday 28 September at Kurrawa Beach. From Monday 29 September, the Gold Coast will come alive with over 30 sports being contested across the city through to Friday, putting the best of Australian university sport on display.
