Federation University Australia

Federation University Australia, with origins dating back to 1870, became a university in 2014 following the merger of the University of Ballarat and Monash University’s Gippsland campus. It operates six campuses across Victoria, serving around 25,000 students.

Federation Uni is known for its vocational education pathways, allied health, education and creative arts. The Gippsland campus hosts the Centre for eResearch and Digital Innovation, while the Ballarat campus is a hub for mining and environmental science research.

Fed Sport manages the Union Recreation Campus in Ballarat and the Gippsland Recreation Centre, both featuring gymnasiums, aquatic facilities, courts and fitness studios. With more than 30 clubs—from soccer and swimming to mountaineering—students enjoy active, community-focused competition.
