Flinders University

Flinders University, established in 1966 and named after navigator Matthew Flinders, is South Australia’s second university. Its Bedford Park campus overlooks the Sturt Gorge and serves over 26,000 students alongside regional sites in Tonsley and Darwin.

Flinders is highly regarded for its health sciences, humanities and social justice research. The Flinders Medical Centre partnership and the Flinders Institute for Ageing Studies exemplify its leadership in clinical research and community health.

Flinders Sport & Recreation’s Physical Wellbeing Centre offers indoor courts, a strength and conditioning gym, and group fitness studios. The Sturt Gorge Sports Fields and Tonsley Tennis Centre host student clubs in AFL, cricket, netball and more, with regular social and competitive events.
