Swinburne University of Technology, founded in 1908 as the Eastern Suburbs Technical College, gained university status in 1992. Located in Melbourne’s inner east, its Hawthorn campus serves around 22,000 students and maintains global partnerships.

Swinburne is a leader in design, innovation and technology, with the Swinburne Innovation Precinct and Centre for Astrophysics driving research in aerospace, robotics and digital media.

Swinburne Sport & Recreation operates the Recreation Centre with a gym, studios and indoor courts, while the adjacent oval and athletics track host clubs in soccer, AFL and athletics. More than 35 student clubs benefit from coaching support and regular intervarsity fixtures.
