readDelivering on their commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, UWA Sport is proud to join the Welcome Here Project, making an ongoing commitment to the development and enhancement of the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in sport at UWA. The Welcome Here Project was founded by ACON Health to support businesses and services throughout Australia to create and promote environments that are visibly welcoming and inclusive of LGBTQIA+ communities.
As outlined in the Inclusive Framework for Sport at UWA and Inclusion in Sport Policy, UWA Sport are committed to providing everyone at UWA equality of opportunity, experience, and outcome. Fun is a key component of sport at UWA, and we understand that in order to have fun, individuals must feel accepted, included and above all else, welcomed.
“At UWA Sport, we remain committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and continue embedding inclusive practices and principles across all facets of our organisation. We do not tolerate homophobia, biphobia, transphobia or intersex discrimination within our community, and are proactive and committed to identifying and removing discrimination and promoting equal opportunity in sport for all.”
