UniSport Australia is proud to announce Week 8 of the University Basketball League Australia (UBL) as Pride Round, celebrating the diversity of our student population and increasing awareness of the importance of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in sport.
La Trobe University, The University of Melbourne, Federation University Australia, RMIT University and Victoria University will host UBL teams from around Australia in the 18 games from 9-11 May 2022.

UniSport Australia is committed to advocating for inclusion for our diverse student-athlete population. University sport is a powerful tool to promote inclusion and acceptance. The Pride Round demonstrates our members passion for supporting and embracing inclusion and diversity through sport. Sinderberry said.
Pride Round also aims to increasevisibility and provide education and awarenessto student athletes, members, and supporters. Together with our members, UniSport Australia is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all student athletes.
The timing of Pride Round is important for our student population with IDAHOBIT day approaching and Pride Month in June. This demonstrable commitment to LGBTIQ+ inclusion that seamlessly aligns with our commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment to our diverse student population. Sinderberry stated.

About University Basketball League
TheUniversity Basketball League (UBL)commenced in 2021 as a first for university sport in Australia. The UBL now features mens and womensbasketball teams from eleven universities across Australia.The 2022 season competition started in early March2022and will culminate with finals to be played late May 2022. All games willbe held on university campuses and are live streamed for viewing around the country. The UBL stands to ignite the traditional rivalries that exist amongst universities, some spanning back as many as 150 years.
