Adelaide University Sport & Fitness – Pride in Sport Festival

About	One day free multisport community event, held on 12 April 2025. Part of the 2025 Pride in Sport Festival, a nationwide calendar of LGBTQIA+ led activities which aim to welcome new participants into sports and celebrate the achievements of queer sporting communities. The day included park run, a hike and the opportunity to try out and speak to a variety of sports including fencing, squash, tennis, rugby, volleyball and more.

Status/outcomes	Bringing together of seven LGBTQIA+ sporting groups that exist in Adelaide along with Thorne Harbour Health and community sporting bodies and groups committed to making their sport a safe and welcoming environment in one location.

Adelaide University Sport & Fitness – Play with Pride function

About	A sit down function to celebrate LGBTIQA+ inclusion and representation in sport and engage in important conversations about the challenges that lie ahead in sport and community.

Griffith – Pride strategy

About	Griffith Sport has developed a Pride Strategy of which details can be found here. This strategy includes a strategic plan, policies events and activities. An example of this would be our Pride themed social tennis nights which we hold out of our MG Tennis Centre.

La Trobe – Social sport commitment to open participation

About	Together with the student inclusion team, La Trobe Sport created a Commitment to Open Participation document, which relates to social competition participants and their rights when playing sport in facilities and competitions.

Status/outcomes	The initial reasoning was there was an incident in our social competitions where a player was misgendered. This document ensures that people who may identify differently from their assigned gender at birth feel comfortable playing in competitions and know the expectations.

Macquarie – Colour the Campus event

About	Annual activation event. 2km across campus event. Standing with the LGBTQIA+ community, connecting with others. Opportunities to take part in activities across campus. Celebration of Wear it Purple.

About	Pre-Nationals cohort training on LGBTQIA+ inclusion and the power of language; practical tools for safer teams.

UniSC – UBL Pride themed home game

About	– Collaboration with Safer Communities and Pride Network – Pride Posters, flags, socks. Pride flag on uniforms/warm up tops. – Sausage Sizzle (first 100 students, run by Nationals teams) – UBL player interview – Signage table for spectators with pride stickers – Pride giveaways at half time LGBTQIA+ trivia – Watch party at Moreton Bay campus on the rise (free popcorn and guest speaker)

Sydney University Sport & Fitness – Pride Body Attack class, Pride archery, Pride rock climbing

About	Pride Body Attack Class – 45 minute body attack class held at the Group Fitness Room at the Sydney Uni Sport & Aquatic Centre. Pride Archery– Hosted during ‘Wear it Purple’ week, participants took part in an Archery session at St Johns oval (Archery club space). Pride Rock-Climbing–held at The Ledge Rock-Climbing Centre.

Status/outcomes	Pride Archery (Wear it Purple) 26 participants

UWA – LGBTQIA+ Allyship in Sport program

About	Aims to influence and create safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments for the LGBTQIA+ community by supporting UWA Sport affiliated clubs on their journey to improve LGBTQIA+ inclusive practices and provide training to a nominated Club Ally.

Status/outcomes	15 UWA Sport affiliate clubs involved in the program; 15 active allies, inclusive audits and LGBTQIA+ actions plans slowly embedded. This program meets clubs where they are, where they would like to head and supports the development of inclusive practices. Commenced in 2024 and is ongoing. Supported 6 UWA affiliate clubs with Pride Cup rounds within their season schedules.

UWA – Western Series Pride Cup

About	Opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students and active allies from all Western Australian universities to participate in All Gender sporting competition.

Status/outcomes	UWA, ECU and Curtin participated in the Inaugural WS Pride Cup, approx. 35 students in attendance, in conjunction an education session was hosted for sport administrators on how to effectively host a Pride Cup; facilitated by Pride Cup Org. approx. 15 sport administrators in attendance. This event will be back in 2026.

VU – Silent Disco Tour

About	Ran a Silent Disco Walking Tour as part of IDAHOBIT Week.

Status/outcomes	This had 69 people take part in the whole session with another 26 do some of it – (people joined in as it went along and they saw it). It was done around one of the campuses (Footscray Park). Planned for more later in the year.
