This year’s championships brought together more than 480 student-athletes from 38 member universities, who competed at the fantastic Gold Coast Performance Centre. With pride, passion, and podium dreams at the forefront, athletes pushed boundaries and etched their names into UniSport Athletics history.
“To see this level of competition, sportsmanship, and university spirit on display is exactly what UniSport events are all about,” said UniSport CEO, Mark Sinderberry, “the achievements of these student-athletes inspire not only their peers but future of university sports stars in Australia too.”
The 2025 edition will be remembered not just for the gripping competition, but for the remarkable individual and team efforts that are now a part of university athletics history.
Standout performances from the event included Bronte Oates of the University of Technology Sydney, who defied rain and gusty winds to dominate the Women’s 5000m; Olympian Rebecca Henderson of The University of Melbourne, who delivered a masterclass in the Women’s 5000m Race Walk; Christopher Geordas, a UNSW Sydney student who clocked a new championship record in the Men’s 200m; and the 4x400m relay team from Western Sydney University all lit up Nationals with some electric performances.
Across the three-day championship, a total of 15 UniSport Championship records were broken, highlighting the depth of talent across the track and field:
