The 2026 UniSport Nationals Swimming Championships were held over the weekend at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in conjunction with the Sydney Open and hosted by Swimming NSW.
In the pool, Bond University (Bond) continued its impressive run at the top of university swimming.
Bond claimed the Overall Champion Trophy for the fifth consecutive year, alongside the Women’s Pennant, after sweeping the relays and producing a dominant display across the individual events.
The University of Queensland (UQ) secured the Men’s Pennant and finished second in the Overall Combined Point Score, with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) placing third.


“Nationals Swimming continues to be one of the premier events on the university sport calendar,” said Mark Sinderberry, CEO of UniSport Australia, following the event. “The energy and quality of competition across the weekend was exceptional, with student-athletes delivering impressive performances, record-breaking swims, and personal bests. Congratulations to all universities who competed, particularly to Bond University for securing a fifth consecutive Overall Champion title and the Women’s Pennant, and to The University of Queensland for claiming the Men’s Pennant.”
For the third year in a row, after claiming back the title in 2024, Bond have defended the Women’s Pennant with a total score of 432, finishing ahead of UTS in second with 234 points, and UQ in third with 129 points.

In the men’s competition, UQ ended Bond’s four-year winning streak to claim the Men’s Pennant with 359 points, narrowly ahead of Bond on 348.5 points. In third place, was The University of Sydney (USYD) with 166.5 points.

Student-athletes also got the opportunity to compete alongside Olympic talent, including Ben Armbruster (Bond University), who raced at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and claimed gold in the 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 100m butterfly at Nationals Swimming.
2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympian Se-Bom Lee (University of Technology Sydney) also featured, winning gold in the 200m backstroke.
Callum Simpson (University of the Sunshine Coast), a gold and silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, had a terrific meet, setting five UniSport records over the three-day event.


Record-Breaking Performances
Nationals Swimming saw 30 UniSport records set or broken across the competition, with the majority set by multi-class athletes who delivered standout performances.
