New university announced to join the 2024 University Basketball League Australia

UniSport Australia (UniSport) is thrilled to announce the further expansion of the University Basketball League Australia (UBL) as the competition looks ahead to its fourth year.

The student-only competition has proved to be hugely popular across the country, building on many historic university rivalries and bringing universities from all states of Australia together in a dedicated student only league.

Joining the league in 2024 will be The University of New South Wales Sydney (UNSW) taking the league participation to 14 universities.

Since the league commenced in 2021 the founding universities of La Trobe University, The University of Melbourne, University of the Sunshine Coast, The University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, The University of Western Australia, and Victoria University have been joined by Curtin University, Federation University Australia, RMIT University and The University of Adelaide in 2022 and then University of Tasmania and Australian Catholic University in 2023.

UniSport CEO Mark Sinderberry highlights the growth of the league, “We are excited to see the further expansion of the UBL competition in 2024 with a third NSW based university.”

“We are looking forward to seeing the continued growth of the league and the 2024 season showcasing the incredible passion students have for representing their universities on the national stage” Sinderberry said.

The 2024 UBL will tip off on 18 March 2024, with 126 home and away games played over seven weeks leading into the finals series and concluding with grand finals on 29 May 2024.

The full UBL schedule will be released soon.
