University of Technology Sydney and The University of Sydney win Nationals Distance Running

University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and The University of Sydney (USYD) are neck and neck in the overall champions title race after taking out the men’s and women’s National Distance Running championship last weekend.

The National Distance Running championship was held as part of the Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 18th September. Over 600 student-athletes competed in either the marathon or half marathon events.

Congratulations to the following student-athletes for their performance in their respective events:

Marathon – Men

• 1st place – Aidan Hobbs – Queensland University of Technology
• 2nd place – Lachlan Bryant – University of Technology Sydney
• 3rd place – Matthew Cox – Western Sydney University

Marathon – Women

• 1st place – Cecily Reid – The Australian National University
• 2nd place – Cathie Drysdale – The University of Sydney
• 3rd place – Amanda Blair – The University of Melbourne

Half Marathon – Men

• 1st place – Sam Hopper – University of New South Wales
• 2nd place – Ben Tacey – University of the Sunshine Coast
• 3rd place – Jayden Lyttle – Queensland University of Technology

Half Marathon – Women

• 1st place – Klara Zecevic – Australian Catholic University
• 2nd place – Benedicte Astridge – The University of Sydney
• 3rd place – Chloe Bell – UNSW Sydney
