The Eastern International Student Sport Festival is a fantastic free event for international students studying at universities in NSW/ACT, with free food provided.
The event provides opportunities for international students studying at Australian universities to connect, compete and celebrate their diverse backgrounds through sport and is able to be delivered thanks to funding from the Australian Government, managed by the Australian Sports Commission as part of the Play Well Affiliate Program.
The inaugural event was held in October 2025, with the 2026 event to be held on Friday 14 August.

I’m a domestic (Australian) student. Can I be part of this event? As the event is primarily for international students, we will allow a small number of domestic students to take part. For the 3×3 Basketball competition, each team will be permitted to have one domestic student. For the Futsal competition, each team will be permitted to have two domestic students. For Social Badminton, we will allow a small number of domestic students to participate.
Do I need to be a currently enrolled university student to participate in the event? Yes, this event is only open to currently enrolled university students. You will be required at the time of registering to enter your student number, which will then be verified with your university.
Do I need to register in advance or can I just rock up on the day? You must register in advance to be part of the day. This helps us confirm numbers for the day and ensure we provide sufficient catering.
Social Badminton: what is the format for this sport? As the opportunity is social in nature, there is no formal competition. Rather, students organise games amongst themselves on the day.
Social Badminton: is equipment provided, or do I need to bring my own? We request that all students bring their own racquet. There will be a small number available for hire, at a cost of $7 (students must leave photo ID at the counter to hire a racquet). Shuttles will be provided.
