Northern International Student Sport Festivals

The Northern International Student Sport Festivals are fantastic free events for international students studying at universities in Qld and northern NSW, with free food provided.

The events provide opportunities for international students studying at Australian universities to connect, compete and celebrate their diverse backgrounds through sport and is able to be delivered thanks to funding from the Australian Government, managed by the Australian Sports Commission as part of the Play Well Affiliate Program.

Upcoming Events

Saturday 5 September 2026: Australian Rules Football Clinic at QUT Kelvin Grove Campus, followed by AFLW Match during Indigenous Round at Hickey Park in Stafford.

Friday 23 October 2026: Social and competitive badminton opportunity at The University of Queensland.

5 September Event Details

Event Outline	-Time TBC: QUT Kelvin Grove Campus: AFL Clinic/Auskick experience (Facilitated mixed university groups). -Time TBC: Social Meal -4.35pm: AFLW Match during Indigenous Round at Hickey Park in Stafford: participants travel together to the venue, return transport to QUT Kelvin Grove campus provided.
I’m a domestic (Australian) student. Can I be part of this event?	This event is exclusively for international students.
Do I need to be a currently enrolled university student to participate in the event?	Yes, this event is only open to currently enrolled university students. You will be required at the time of registering to enter your student number, which will then be verified with your university.
Do I need to register in advance or can I just rock up on the day?	You must register in advance to be part of the day. This helps us confirm numbers for the day and ensure we provide sufficient catering. Registration details will be provided soon.
